Description

When I first came to Messiah, I didn’t have a perception of Bible chronology. My understanding of the Lord’s coming to Earth as “the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world,” His death and resurrection, His return for the church at The Catching Away of The Saints or The Rapture (as it is commonly known), and His final victory at Armageddon or Harmageddon many times referred to as Har-Magedon or Armageddon was if anything very opaque.

What was I to do? What is anyone to do who wants to know the step by step details of his savior’s death on the cross. I needed to understand the sequence, I needed to understand the Bible chronology of that one day when humanity was redeemed. I simply was not getting that from Church theology and certainly 1 Corinthians 15: 4 where the Apostle Paul declared that “. . .that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” was not making any sense to me.

So are we to think that the Lord died on a Friday at three o’clock in the afternoon, and was buried and then rose again on Sunday morning? According to my calculations, and this teaching, He was only buried one day and that day was Saturday. It simply did not make sense to me then and it still does not make sense to me now.

So what happened to His prophecy in Matthew 12:40 where the Lord says “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”. If He truly died on a Friday then His prophecy did not come to pass and something is very wrong here.

I had no choice but to embarked on a deep study of the Scriptures which included, first of all, the Lord’s death and resurrection. I learned the treasures and deep truths of the Church. I learned, in fact, that the Lord did not die on the Gregorian calendar day of what we call today Friday, but in fact, He died on Wednesday, a day called High Holy Sabbath which comes but once a year during the season of Passover.

No matter which way we perceive it, the Lord’s death and His resurrection are the most important occurrences on this side of Heaven. His death on the cross was planned and timed to the very second before the foundations of the worlds. Certainly it was planned before the creation of the Earth.

Join me today for this fascinating step by step journey of the Lord’s death on the Cross and see why the Lord did not, in fact, died on Friday but on Wednesday.
